The wheel alignment also known as tracking is one of the major causes of premature tyre wear, mis-aligned wheels will cause scrubbing of the tyre edges, either on the inside or outside edge. Wheel mis-alignment can also cause handling issues if not set to the right specifications.
The alignment is usually affected by heavy impacts to the wheels, usually potholes or kerbs, it is also advised that you have your wheel alignment done if you’ve had any work carried out on the steering components of the car, ie a track rod or track rod ends.
